Cody, New Addition to our Family

The newest member of our security team joined our ranks yesterday just in time for the holidays. According to his terms of reference part of his duties will include assisting his big brother Jack in keeping the house safe from intruders. He does not appear to be afraid or intimated by anything.

In addition to those duties he will also provide friendship and companionship to all those under our roof. He appears to be a happy well adjusted dog. His appetite is quite ravenous.

The Pekingese breed originated from the ancient Chinese city of Peking (now Beijing). Hopefully the weather here in tropical southeast Asia will not be too much for this little guy's fantastic white fur cut.

We were already taking care of 2 cats and a dog so I was not initially too thrilled about adding another dog into the mix.

Despite my initial objection, those adorable eyes and his playfulness quickly grew on me and we have welcomed the new addition into our home.

He reminds me of  a tiny polar bear. He seemed very relaxed as I was taking these photos.

My wife brought the last couple of pets we they were way too young (i.e.eyes still closed...) You can tell that the animals separated from their mothers at too early of an age results in excitement/anxiety issues as an adult.

I have noticed that behavior in 1/2 of the four pets that live with us. I can see the benefit of allowing the puppy to grow and interact with the other puppies in the litter.
